Alberta Sugar Beet Growers

Growing your source of 100% Canadian sugar.

Map of the province of Alberta

100% Canadian sugar. Locally grown.

Welcome to Alberta Sugar Beet Growers (ASBG), where we proudly represent the 200 farm families who grow Canada’s last source of homegrown sugar, all across 28,000 acres in Southern Alberta. Since 1925, ASBG has supported these growers through advocacy, education, and sustainable practices, ensuring a high-quality, ethically produced sugar crop for Canadians.

THE PLANT

Sugar Beets

Since the 1800's, sugar beets have been providing Canadians with a source of domestic sugar. These white, tear-shaped root plants weigh 3-5 pounds each and are comprised of sugar, water, molasses, and fibre.

WHAT IS...

#ABsugar22

#ABsugar22 is the only domestic source of 100% Canadian sugar. It's made from the sugar beets grown in Southern Alberta by our 200 farm families. It's been refined in Taber, and it's a product that's verified as sustainably grown by the FSA.

To know if your sugar is #ABsugar22, look for the black factory stamp on any bag of Rogers Sugar. If it begins with the numbers "22," that's locally grown beet sugar inside.
